Stabbed pupil too scared to write matric

Cape Town - A 17-year-old schoolboy is too scared to return to school to write his matric exams after he was attacked by a fellow pupil.

Tyler Sias was apparently stabbed five times by a classmate at Batavia School in Landsdowne, Cape Town, on September 14, the Daily Voice reported on Wednesday.

Doctors said the attacker missed the boy’s spine by a few inches.

The boy’s mother, Elaine Sias, 43, says her son is too scared to go back to school.

She said she found a screwdriver in his bag, which he was apparently carrying for his protection.

The boy’s father said the school promised to investigate the incident.

A police spokesperson said a 15-year-old pupil was arrested on charges of attempted murder, but the case had subsequently been withdrawn.
